Good attendance is necessary for all children, research shows that children who attend school regularly and punctually perform better overall and in their later lives. Therefore, the Government expects the level of school attendance for all primary aged pupils to be no lower than 97%
There have been a lot of complaints recently regarding parking around school before and after school. Please be considerate when parking, as some parents with pushchairs have not been able to get past due to parking on corners of the streets and residents have been blocked in.
We have several children in school with severe nut allergies, which require an Epi Pen. Please do not send your child into school with any nuts or nut products e.g Nutella spread for snack or lunch, as this could be life threatening to these children.

RSPB Big Schools Bird Watch

RSPB Garden Bird Watch and Eco Workshop πŸ’šhttps://www.rspb.org.uk/…/bgbw_guide_printable_english…Our Eco Committee is preparing for the Big Schools Birdwatch by making bird cake and kebabs filled with delicious seeds, suet, nuts and fruit to encourage more of our feathered friends to fly in and feed. Over the years, we have taken part in this RSPB survey so we can see how many birds visit and the different types of birds we see on school grounds. Last year’s results identified an increase in blackbirds and robins! You can take part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch from home this weekend just check out the link above. Please let us know what you see!πŸ¦‰πŸ¦…

Cycling

Our Gorse Hall School cyclists met up on a blustery Sunday morning to take part in a film shoot promoting cycling around the Tame Valley. We were interviewed about the physical and well-being benefits of cycling and how fortunate we are to have this super facility on our doorstep! The route through Gorse Hall Country Park is just three and a half miles long and takes in breathtaking panoramic views of Manchester, the Pennines, and the Cheshire Plains. It’s also an opportunity to engage with nature and discover some of our exciting local heritage. Many thanks to the children and parents and Mrs Hughes for taking part. πŸ’š

A Stitch in Time Workshops

A Stitch in Tome Workshop with Mrs Hughes- as part of our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, this term we are highlighting the issues associated with “Fast Fashion” and the negative impacts it has on our environment. Years 5 and 6 pupils have been researching natural and man made fabrics and using upcycled upholstery fabrics to make “rag-bags”. We looked at the process of weaving, plaiting and braiding to create something creative and purposeful! β™»οΈπŸŒπŸ‘œ
